There are many Citizen Science activitites on the web.
They are ideal for people who want to get involved with real astronomy.
They appeal particularly to those with a slightly obsessive or compulsive streak!!
One of the first big successes was Galaxy Zoo. It classifies images of galaxies into a catalogue of types.
The web site now lists many projects that you could join.
